The circle of fifths is a music theoretical tool to visualize the relationships between the 12 notes of the chromatic scale, their key signatures and the associated major and minor keys. This interactive circle of fifths focuses on the chord families derived from the notes in the circle for guitar and ukulele players. When you click on a note the corresponding chord families are shown with fretboard charts that show how to play them on both instruments in standard tuning.
Knowing these chord families is very helpful for jamming, figuring out songs you like and composing your own music. Many songs in pop and rock music use chord progressions made of just 3 or 4 chords from a particular chord family. One that is very popular is made of the 3 major chords and the 6th chord in a family, i. e. the 1564 or I-V-vi-IV progression. It even has its own Wikipedia page listing more than 200 songs using it.
